Scholarships offered for students interested in manufacturing

Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs, the foundation of Fabricators & Manufacturers Association International in Elgin, raises donations to award scholarships of up to $3,500 to deserving students pursuing a degree in the manufacturing industry.

Applications for the fall 2018 semester are being accepted now through March 31.

Applying is easy!

Students at universities pursuing degrees in these fields of study can apply for a scholarship: aeronautical/aerospace engineering; agricultural/biological systems engineering; CAD/mechanical engineering technology; electrical engineering; industrial design/drafting; industrial engineering; manufacturing engineering; manufacturing technology; materials science engineering; mechanical engineering; metallurgical engineering; nondestructive testing/inspection; operations & technology management; quality technology/engineering; robotics/mechatronics/automation; supply chain management; or welding engineering.

Students at community college or technical/trade schools pursuing degrees in these fields of study can apply for a scholarship: additive manufacturing/3-D printing; advanced manufacturing; automation systems; computer-aided design/CAD technology; CNC machining/manufacturing; electronics technology; industrial automation maintenance; industrial electrician; industrial technology; industrial maintenance; machine tool technology; manufacturing technology; materials science; mechatronics; metal fabricating; metallurgical technology; nondestructive testing/inspection; precision sheet metal fabrication; quality assurance/improvement; robotics technology; tool & die; or welding.

Since 1990, the foundation has awarded scholarships to students majoring in programs that lead to careers in manufacturing.
