Schaumburg Boomers a hit with 5,000 fans
The return of professional baseball to Schaumburg — after a nearly two-year hiatus — proved to be as successful in the stands as it was on the field Friday night. A crowd of more than 5,000 mostly orange-clad fans cheered the Schaumburg Boomers on to their first home victory, beating the Florence Freedom 5 to 2.

Northwest suburban water parks opening Memorial Day weekend
Updated May 26, 2012 2:41 PMAs the heat rises and summer fever kicks in, numerous suburban pools and water parks are beginning to open. While some water parks won't open until area schools get out, others are opening for the holiday weekend. Here's a look at what's happening at some of the major water parks in the Northwest suburbs.

Palatine man arrested on DUI charges for 3rd time
Updated May 25, 2012 7:56 PMSchaumburg police arrested a Palatine man on DUI charges early Friday. Police say Noe Martinez-Tovar, 30, was driving 65 mph in a 45 mph zone on Higgins Road when he was stopped for speeding and subsequently charged with his third DUI.

- Since 1909 when W.D.
