Two Lake County men accused of stealing $12,000 worth of cold medicine
Two men have been charged with stealing more than $12,000 worth of cold medicine from drugstores in Illinois and Wisconsin, Lincolnshire police said Thursday. Drashawn J. Griffin, 21, of the 500 block of Beechwood Drive in Round Lake, and Dave L. Windham, 23, of 2800 block of Elizabeth Lane in Zion, are in Lake County jail on $100,000 bond after being charged with multiple counts of burglary and retail theft via an emergency exit, police Investigator Adam Hyde said.

Woman guilty of sledgehammer attack
Updated Feb 7, 2013 8:27 AMAfter only three hours of deliberations, a Lake County jury found Sandra Rogers guilty of attempting to murder her ex-husband with a sledgehammer in an early-morning attack almost a decade ago. Prosecutors said Rogers was the "angry, bitter and frustrated ex-wife" who used a red sledgehammer to repeatedly strike Rick Rogers on May 19, 2003, in the bedroom of his Lincolnshire home.

Stevenson High considering going mobile with an app

Neighboring Libertyville and Vernon Hills high schools launched their first apps in December.

Updated Feb 6, 2013 11:28 AMAn increasing number of U.S. employers are planning to add Roth features to their defined contribution plans in 2013, according to a new survey by Lincolnshire-based Aon Hewitt, the global human resources solutions business of Aon plc.The findings come on the heels of new legislation that makes it easier for DC investors to convert balances within their savings plan into Roth accounts.

- The Choral-aires Chorus placed second in the Community Teams category raising funds for breast cancer research last month, missing first place by only $25. The chorus raised $3,985 by the time the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure rolled around, with more donations still coming, surpassing their original goal of $3,000. The Choral-Aires has five current chorus members that either have, or have had, breast cancer. And this year, 2 of the team members discovered that their mothers have breast cancer, so they were walking on race day for their moms. One member of our team, Kara Gray, celebrated her 10 years without breast cancer this year. While not a Chorus member, she is the daughter of long-time member Martha Anderson, who also walked with the team on race day. Lindsey Herza
- On Jan. 21, Elmhurst City Clerk Patty Spencer presented the Choral-Aires Chorus with a proclamation declaring January "Sweet Adelines Month." The Choral-Aires, an Elmhurst-based Sweet Adelines International chapter, is hosting Guest Nights each Monday in January from 6:45-9:45 pm at the Redeemer Lutheran Church Recreation Center as part of the SAI Global Open House event.
