Minor injuries for 17 Algonquin students in bounce house accident
Six students from Algonquin Lakes Elementary School were sent to area hospitals for evaluation Thursday afternoon after they were injured in a bounce house during an indoor school celebration, officials said. Another 11 students were treated at the school and released to their parents. There were no serious injuries.

Charges dropped against former Gail Borden library trustee
Updated May 23, 2013 11:21 AMProsecutors have dismissed felony domestic battery charrges against a former Gail Borden Library trustee. Randall Hopp was charged with attacking his elderly father in March 2011 and was in an institution last summer because he was unfit for trial. Hopp's father passed away and his mother, the only other witness, recanted her testimony.

Ex-U-46 teacher accuses district of forcing resignation
Updated May 20, 2013 5:11 PMA former U-46 teacher has sued the district, arguing she was essentially fired in February 2012 after a hospitalization in fall 2010. Schaumburg resident Jeanette Boland, a former tenured teacher at Larsen and Kenyon Woods middle schools in Elgin and South Elgin, respectively, argues Elgin Area School District U-46 violated the Illinois Human Rights Act by saying she had a psychological problems, thus discriminating against her.

Nursing home planned for Elgin’s west side
Posted May 23, 2013 6:04 PMA nursing home appears to be headed to Elgin’s far west side, but as at least one neighbor complained that’s a far cry from the Trader Joe’s he was lead to believe would be built there.Elgin Memory Care would occupy 5 acres of a 19-acre vacant parcel on the southwest corner of Route 20 and Nessler Road, near the West Point Gardens subdivision.

The sculpture will be part of the magical décor of the Clara's Christmas Tea Parties, taking place Dec. 8 & 9 beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the Spartan Terrace dining room, just down the hall from the theater and preceding the 3 p.m. performances of the Ruth Page Civic Ballet's production of "The Nutcracker." - The Choral-aires Chorus placed second in the Community Teams category raising funds for breast cancer research last month, missing first place by only $25. The chorus raised $3,985 by the time the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure rolled around, with more donations still coming, surpassing their original goal of $3,000. The Choral-Aires has five current chorus members that either have, or have had, breast cancer. And this year, 2 of the team members discovered that their mothers have breast cancer, so they were walking on race day for their moms. One member of our team, Kara Gray, celebrated her 10 years without breast cancer this year. While not a Chorus member, she is the daughter of long-time member Martha Anderson, who also walked with the team on race day. Lindsey Herza

George and Sarah Naxera of Kildeer sample mouth-watering morsels from 20 local restaurants at Clearbrook's fourth annual "Around the World Food Tasting" on Oct. 16 at Arlington Toyota-Scion in Palatine.
