Chicago area families invited to join Scouting Sept. 14

The Boy Scouts of America is inviting families across the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana to register for Cub Scouts on Thursday, Sept. 14, at a local elementary school or online.

Each new Scout will receive a free model rocket to build and launch with their whole family at an upcoming Adventure Day!

Cub Scouts is a year-round program uniquely designed to meet the needs of boys in kindergarten through fifth grade. The program offers fun and challenging activities that promote character development and physical fitness.

From turning a block of wood into a race car to programing a robot or shooting arrows, Cub Scouts go on amazing adventures while learning new skills that will help them now and throughout their lives.

Family involvement is an essential part of Cub Scouts, and parents are encouraged to play an active role in making the most of the short time they have to impact the lives of their children.

The "Blast into Scouting" campaign builds off more than one hundred years of history incorporating science, technology, engineering, and math into many components of Scouting. Presenting new families with their own rockets and providing a platform to launch them is just one example of an innovative initiative weaved into the time-tested Scouting program.

Interested families should visit www.BlastIntoScouting.org to learn more, find a local participating school or register online.
