Join Elgin Fringe Festival's Button Release Party on World Fringe Day July 11

Come out and join members of the Elgin Fringe Festival and 2017 poster artist David Metzger as they celebrate World Fringe Day from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the Martini Room, 161 E. Chicago St. in downtown Elgin. The Button Release/Poster signing party is free and open to the public. More information about the event is available at www.elginfringefestival.com.

The button release/poster party is a chance to meet the artist who designed the artwork for this year's Elgin Fringe Festival poster and button while raising a martini to World Fringe Day. People attending the party can also purchase a new 2017 EFF button for only $3. Beautiful new posters are also available for $15 and will be signed by the artist. Retro buttons are $1 along with retro posters for $10. All proceeds from the event benefit the Elgin Fringe Festival.

This is the fourth year of the button release party, a popular event that gets everybody talking about the Elgin Fringe Festival, which will run on Sept. 13-17, at venues throughout downtown Elgin. The festival features theater, dance, music and art from performers and artists across the country. The Elgin Fringe button is needed to purchase tickets and attend all the events.

Last year, the Elgin Fringe Festival filled more than 2,000 seats in all events combined - an increase of close to 20 percent from the previous year. This festival featured close to 200 artists - the most in fringe history - who presented 120 performances in venues as varied as a basement, cafe, pub, park, gallery, ballroom and a church.

Overall, since its inception in 2014, the unjuried festival has presented 350 performances, including dance, music, theater, spoken word and comedy, while recording approximately $30,000 in box office sales - all of which - 100% - goes back to the artists and performers.

The Elgin Fringe Festival is sponsored by the Elgin Cultural Arts Commission, Janus Theatre Company, Side Street Studio Arts, Business Matters, Elgin Art Showcase, Elgin Public House, Imago Studios, Blue Box Café and Martini Room. More information is available at www.elginfringefestival.com.
