COD Forensics Team Places Fourth at Novice Nationals Competition

The College of DuPage Forensics team placed fourth at the Novice Nationals tournament held at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida.

The Novice Nationals tournament brings together community college and four-year teams from across the country in head-to-head competition. Only students in their first year of Forensics are allowed to compete at this tournament.

Team members who earned awards at the competition include Cem Addemir (Naperville), quarterfinalist in International Public Debate; Jake Cowart (Lombard), second place in Persuasion and third place in Communication Analysis; Liz Fritz (Naperville), Novice National Champion in Parliamentary Debate; Gabi Gruver (Naperville), Novice National Champion in Parliamentary Debate, Novice National Champion in Communication Analysis, fourth place in Extemporaneous Speaking, and fourth place in Persuasion.

Also joining the team were Katrina Caluza (Aurora), Roha Nehas (Glendale Heights), Ian Hogan (Naperville), Mojeri Coker (Warrenville), Hamdan Suhail (Woodridge) and Rocio Olvera (Elmhurst).

The College of DuPage Forensics Team is coached by Lauren Morgan, Kacy Abeln, Matt Beifuss, Jude Geigner, Mia Poston and Brandon Wood.

The COD Forensics team will complete its season at the Phi Rho Pi National Tournament on April 10-15 in Washington, D.C.
