COD Track and Field Athletes Compete at NJCAA Indoor Championships

The College of DuPage Track and Field team recently returned from the National Junior College Athletic Association indoor track championship after recording some of their best times this season.

The championships were held March 3 and 4 in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Torrain Haughton placed third in the individual 800 meter run, running a season best of 1:52.8. Nate Wesolek placed fifth in pole vault, umping 15'3" and the distance medley team, comprised of Haughton, Brendan Vazquez, Peyton Chapman and Marco Martinez placed eighth in their event. Chapman ran a season best time of 1:59 in the 800 meter while Martinez rana a season best time of 4:28 in the 1600 meter to propel the team to a strong finish.

With the indoor season completely, the Chaparrals now prepare for the outdoor track and field season, which begins March 31and concludes with the NJCAA outdoor championships set for May 18 to 20 in Hutchinson, Kansas. Click here for the complete schedule.

Athletics program offers nine men's and eight women's sports teams each year, including outdoor track and field, indoor track and field, cross country, football, volleyball, golf, basketball, tennis, baseball, softball and soccer. All home games are played on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd., and are free and open to the public.
