Local chorus hosts annual fashion show

Looking for a way to warm up at the end of a long, cold winter? Preview spring and summer fashions at the 27th annual fashion show and luncheon hosted by award-winning chorus the Choral-Aires Chorus and Zzazz Productions.

This year's show, titled "Singin' in the Rain," takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Drury Lane, 100 Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace.

The show offers attendees an afternoon of food, music, a professional fashion show, and raffle prizes. This year's three grand prizes include a one-week stay at a resort condo (location chosen by trip winner), a $500 cash prize, and a Deluxe Deli Food and Cheese Basket of goodies from Caputo Cheese Market, plus a $100 gift certificate, making the total value of the prize $350.

This event draws a sellout crowd of nearly 700 attendees each year. Cocktail hour begins at 11 a.m. At noon, the Choral-Aires Chorus performs, followed by a luncheon and the fashion show. Tickets cost $45 and can be ordered online at www.choral-aires.com or by contacting Linda Butler at (847) 577-7293 or lfbutler@msn.com.

"We love this annual tradition," says Chorus President Nancy Smith. "After our recent success at the Sweet Adelines International Contest, our members are more energized than ever to perform for the home crowd. We are looking forward to this show immensely."

Women passionate about music are invited to join the Choral-Aires Chorus during weekly rehearsals Mondays from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church Recreation Center, 345 S. Kenilworth Ave. in Elmhurst.

For information about joining the chorus, contact Barb Ehst at (630) 204-5188 or barbehst@hotmail.com.

More than 100 women from Illinois and Wisconsin sing tight harmonies a cappella (without instrumentation) with the Choral-Aires Chorus, the 2012 Lake Michigan Region 3 Champion, and earned eighth place in the world at the 2013 Sweet Adelines International contest.

This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. More information about the Chorus can be found at choral-aires.com.
