Three Fires Council, Boy Scouts of America Launch Annual Popcorn Sale

Three Fires Council Boy Scouts are kicking off their annual popcorn sale once again to raise money for area Scouting programs. Scouts throughout a four county area (DuPage, Kane, Kendall, and DeKalb) will sell popcorn door-to-door, and online from Sept. 1 through Nov. 2. The Scouts popcorn will offer a new twist with Jalapeno Cheddar Cheese, and Bacon Ranch in addition to traditional bestsellers such as "unbelievable butter" microwave popcorn.

Proceeds from the popcorn drive are used to pay for equipment, activities, and camps for Scouts, and 70 percent of popcorn purchases will directly support local Scouting programs. "For many of our Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, this is the only time they raise money to help pay for camping trips and other valuable activities," said Matt Ackerman, Scout Executive of the council. "Top sellers can also earn money toward college scholarships."

Scouts will accept donations again this year in order to provide popcorn for military members. Since 2007, thousands of Scouts and their families across the United States have provided 1.3 million orders of popcorn for our troops.
