12 year-old Diabetes' activist, educator appointed Gear for Goals' Youth Ambassador

American Diabetes Association's National Youth Action Council Member Jared Kuper was recently appointed Gear for Goals' (G4G) humanitarian youth ambassador.

The 12 year-old youth activist and educator is on a mission to increase awareness for childhood diabetes and hope for a cure. With this new appointment, Jared aims to increase his reach and to join G4G's mission to bring love of sports and hope to impoverished children around the world.

“Jared is passionate about helping other children,” says Jared's mom, Laura Kuper. “Jared suffers from multiple diseases that make him understand how children with special challenges need to fight to overcome their adversities and the one thing that has helped Jared find some source of peace is sports, which is one of the things that drew him to G4G. Even when he can't play, sitting on the sidelines as part of a team makes him feel good and gives him hope.“

“He's quite a fighter,” Kuper states. “That is why he speaks so passionately and is so excited to be a part of G4G. He wants to bring other kids sports, arts and eventually healthcare and most of all hope!”

Jared will be throwing the opening pitch at G4G's fundraiser to be held at the Schaumburg Boomers Baseball Field on June 21st.

“I am honored to be a part of this wonderful charity that brings sports and hope to children in need,” said Jared. “I'd like to extend my gratitude to the Gear for Goals' family by saying together we can make a difference for kids around the world. My partnership with G4G will help me support these kids and I can't wait to throw the opening pitch at the Boomers' game!”

“We're truly honored to welcome Jared as our humanitarian Youth Ambassador for Gear for Goals,” says G4G Executive Director, Dr. Warren Bruhl. “He's an inspiration to many and he's changing lives every day with the good work that he's doing with the American Diabetes Association.” “We're thankful for his support and look forward to working together to impact children's lives.”

Bruhl said the G4G board admired Jared's commitment and the support and heightened awareness he will bring to the charity. In addition to Jared's work with the ADA, he has also appeared before congress in his fight to raise awareness for youth diabetes.

Also supporting G4G's upcoming fundraiser at the Schaumburg Boomers is Glenbrook North High School Poms and Orchesis Dance Company who will be dancing during a special flash mob during the 7th inning stretch at the game. “It's our time to shine and encourage fans in the ballpark to shine along with us for Gear for Goals' charity event,” says Glenbrook North High School's Orchesis, Poms, Variety Show Director Diane DeRosa Reynolds. “Current and alumni dancers from the Glenbrook North High School Poms and Orchesis Dance Company will be a part of the 7th inning stretch Flash Mob. What a wonderful way to spread spirit and hope to those less fortunate.” Gear for Goals is looking for dancers of all levels to participate in the flash mob.
