Gallery Theater Presents Murder By the Book; Plus October Audition Call

West Chicago, Illinois: October 2, 2012 – October is the perfect month for mystery. Gallery Theater presents Murder By the Book for fans of the genre on October 12 and 13, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. and October 14, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., in the intimate downtown theater space of Gallery 200/STUDIO located at 203 Turner Court, West Chicago.

The Raven Society is holding its annual meeting to select the best mystery book of the year for the coveted Smoking Gun Award. Members arrive at the meeting disguised as their favorite author – none of the members actually know the true identity of the others. When one of the “authors” is murdered Mark Twain, William Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe and Agatha Christie are among those trying to solve the murder. They discover that someone is trying to kill off the entire Raven Society!

Gallery 200/STUDIO, the venue for Gallery Theater, is a cultural initiative supported by the City of West Chicago and the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission and is one more reason West Chicago was named an Illinois Arts Friendly Community in 2007.

Gallery Theater announces auditions for a warm-hearted tale of a very unusual holiday gathering entitled, Beasley's Christmas Party. Gallery Theater is looking for six versatile actors (three men and three women) who would enjoy the challenge of playing more than one role. The play calls for a variety of ages and one child, approximately age 10. Auditions will take place at Gallery Theater on October 16, 2012 and October 18, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. and October 20, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. and will consist of cold readings from the script. Monologues are optional. Gallery Theater is located at 203 Turner Court in downtown West Chicago. Performances begin Friday, November 30, 2012 and run Friday, Saturday and Sunday through December 9, 2012.
