Fundraiser to benefit Lions Holiday Food Basket project for South Elgin

The South Elgin Lions Club will host its third fundraiser for the club's annual Christmas food and toy baskets for area needy families.

The event will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 11 at Wise Guys Pizzeria, 325 Randall Road, South Elgin.

The $10 per-person event includes an all-you-can-eat buffet dinner, (dine in or carry out) with spaghetti, garlic bread and salad. Wise Guys Pizzeria is splitting the proceeds 50/50 with the Lions Club, with proceeds going to the Christmas food and toy baskets. Kids 12 years old and under eat free during the event.

"We consider the programs and contributions to be highly important. Some of our fellow neighbors, friends, and co-workers are faced with financial troubles throughout the year and more so over the holiday season," said Lion Gary Hyman for the South Elgin Lions.

"We have averaged approximately 200 families requesting assistance from our club and it remains our goal to continue to be able to provide food, coats, and toys to all local families that need our help," Linda Scham, public relations chair for the South Elgin Lions.

The goal this year is to raise more money and collect more food for the basket drive, she said.

Residents unable to attend this fundraisers may make direct monetary donations to the South Elgin Lions Club ,500 Fulton Street, South Elgin, IL 60177. Please include "Food Basket" on the memo line of your check.
