Arlington Heights: Dusk, July 3 at Arlington Park racetrack, 2200 W. Euclid Ave. $5 at the gate; $3 at arlingtonpark.com. Includes day of racing starting at 4 p.m., and live music. Free parking; children under 18 free with paid adult.

Aurora, North Aurora: 9:30 p.m. July 3 at Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy, 1500 W. Sullivan Road, Aurora. Food, children's activities, comedy, musical entertainment starting at 6 p.m. (630) 844-4731 or aurora-il.org.

Bensenville: Dusk, July 4 at Redmond Recreation Center. Concert by Blood, Sweat and Tears at 8 p.m. bensenville.il.us.

Buffalo Grove: 9:15 p.m. July 4, starts with 7 p.m. concert by the Buffalo Grove Symphonic Band and BG Singers. Best viewing from the Rotary Village Green, Buffalo Grove Golf Course or Willow Stream Park. vbg.org.

Chicago: 9 p.m. July 3, Grant Park at the lakefront. The 85th Army Band concert at Petrillo Music Shell begins at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks soundtrack broadcast by 101.9 THE MIX. Viewing good throughout Grant Park and Museum Campus. Fireworks fans not allowed in to stake their plot of land until 10:45 a.m. July 3.

Crystal Lake: Dusk, July 5 at Main Beach, 300 Lakeshore Drive. Nonresident parking $5. crystallakeparks.org.
