Barrington Memorial Day Parade, begins at Cook, Park and Station streets, Barrington: Procession begins 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 25, and proceeds to Evergreen Cemetery, where there will be a short service and performances by the Barrington High School band and Barrington Children's Choir. Bartlett Memorial Day Walk and Remembrance, at Bartlett Park, Oak and North Avenues, Bartlett: 10 a.m. Monday, May 25. Ceremony starts with an American Legion flag retirement ceremony. At 10:30 a.m. veterans, scouts, civic groups and bagpipers will line up for the walk to Bartlett Cemetery, which steps off at 11 a.m. All are invited to join walk. Batavia Memorial Day Observances: American flags will be placed on the graves of veterans in the East and West Side cemeteries in Batavia at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24. East Batavia Cemetery is at N. Washington Avenue and Gore Street. West Batavia Cemetery is at Route 3 and Morton Street. Call Batavia Cares at (630) 687-1943 for details. Lt. Col. Ken Carr, chaplain of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, will host a special Memorial Day sermon at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, May 24, at the Christ the King Church in the East Side Community Center, 14 N. Van Buren St., Batavia. A traditional Memorial Day observance takes place at 10 a.m. Monday, May 25, at the VFW Post 1197 on South River Street.

Bloomingdale's Memorial Day Remembrance, hosted by the Bloomingdale Historical Society, Bloomingdale Public Library and the village, is at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 25, at St. Paul Cemetery. The event is open to all veterans and residents. The program includes placing of flags and a gun salute by VFW Post 7539, as well as patriotic music performed by the a cappella ensemble of the Spirit of Life Chorus. Dundee Township Memorial Day Parade and Services: Parade begins at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24, in downtown East and West Dundee. Geneva Memorial Day Parade and Services: Events begin with a Color Guard rifle salute at 6 a.m. Monday, May 25, at the East Side Cemetery, off Bennett Street. Services proceed to the State Street bridge for a ceremony with flowers being strewed on the river, followed by salutes at the Kane County Government Center at 719 Batavia Ave., and at 7 a.m. at the Gevena Township Senior Center at 400 Wheeler Drive. Parade begins at 10 a.m. at the Geneva Metra train station and proceeds to the West Side Cemetery. There, Dennis Enneking, a Vietnam veteran and member of the Fox Valley Geneva American Legion Post 75, will dedicate his Memorial Day speech to local veterans. Kaneville Memorial Day Program, |David Werdin Community Center, Corner of Harder Road and Main Street Road, Kaneville: 10 a.m. Monday, May 25, "Kaneville During World War II" features music, recognition of attending veterans, placement of gravesite flowers and a 21-gun salute at the Kaneville Cemetery. Lake Villa Memorial Day Parade, VFW Post 4308 hosts its annual Memorial Day parade at noon on Monday, May 25. Parade begins at Palombi Middle School at 133 McKinley Ave., and ends at Lehmann Park downtown, with a memorial service to finish the event. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided. Libertyville Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony, from the Metra train to Cook Park., Libertyville: Parade participants gather at train station at 9 a.m., and march to Cook Park at 9:15 a.m. Closing ceremonies and laying of wreaths begins at 9:30 a.m. The VFW, American Legion and their auxiliaries, Scout troops and honor guards, community organizations and the Libertyville High School band participate. Mount Prospect Memorial Day Parade: 9:35 a.m. Monday, May 25. Parade lines up at Emerson and Busse. Parade goes south on Emerson to Lincoln to the Veterans' Memorial Band Shell at Lions Park for a ceremony. Any interested citizens can march in the parade, and veterans are especially encouraged. Springbrook Community Church honors men and women serving in the armed services during a community celebration at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 24, at the church, 29W771 79th St., Naperville. The group also is collecting items for Operation Support Our Troops Illinois. Rolling Meadows Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony, Kirchoff Road and Meadow Drive, Rolling Meadows: Parade will march west on Kirchoff to Carillon Tower, where Mayor Ken Nelson and other city officials will lead an observance at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23. Kirchoff Road between Meadow and Owl Drive will be closed from 10:50 to 11:35 a.m. The parade will feature the Rolling Meadows High School Band, veterans, military personnel and city officials. St. Charles Memorial Day Services: Flag-raising ceremony at 5:30 a.m. Monday, May 25, at Baker Community Center 101 S. Second St., St. Charles. Services continue at 6:20 a.m. at the St. Charles South Cemetery on east side of Seventh Avenue, north of Madison. Memorial Day parade begins at 10 a.m. at Fifth and Main streets. Following parade, a Memorial Day Ceremony takes place at Freedom Trail, along the Fox River, behind the police station.

Wheeling Memorial Day Parade and AMVETS Post Picnic: Parade starts in the Sam's Club parking lot at McHenry and Weiland roads, Wheeling: 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, May 25. Parade goes south on McHenry (Route 83) to AMVETS Post 66 at 700 McHenry Road, for 15-minute memorial ceremony at the tank and flag. A picnic/corn roast on AMVETS property to follow. (847) 459-2600.

Winfield's "Memorial Day Remembered:" Runs 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 25, at Kline Creek Farm, on County Farm Road south of North Avenue, Winfield.
