GLMV Chamber Elects 2019 Board of Directors

The Green Oaks, Libertyville, Mundelein, Vernon Hills (GLMV) Chamber of Commerce has announced its 2019 Board of Directors. Board members comprise a variety of businesses and industries in the GLMV area, and contribute their time and talents to serve the chamber and business community.

Karen Kay Lavris, of Glacier Ice Arena, Vernon Hills, continues as 2019 Chair of the GLMV Board of Directors. Lavris, who first joined the GLMV Chamber in 1999, is a former board chairman and most recently joined the Board of Directors again in 2017, becoming Chair in 2018. A charismatic Chamber advocate, she has brought in countless new members, serves on nearly all committees, attends nearly every chamber and member function, and has visited with many member businesses throughout the year.

"Karen's expertise, energy and leadership is second to none," said GLMV President Scott Adams. "We look forward to another great year with Karen as Board Chair."

2019 Officers are:

Chairman: Karen Kay Lavris, Glacier Ice Arena

Vice Chairman: Rita Lavelle, Doubletree Hotel - Mundelein;

Interim Treasurer: Duane Laska, North Shore Sign Co.

Interim Secretary: Steve Kopala, Northwestern Mutual

Immediate Past Chair: Jim Butler, JHB Technology Consulting

The Board bids farewell to Treasurer Robert Ritzwoller, CPA, The Brown CPA Group; Secretary Bruce Himmelblau, Blue Sky Video Productions, Joe Carey, Village of Vernon Hills; and Chris Vicik. We thank you for your service.

DIRECTORS

The Board also welcomes two newly elected Directors, who will serve three-year terms (2019-2021): Mike Babicz, Libertyville Manor; and Gale Cohen - Demarco, Sport Clips Libertyville.

They join current Directors Mike Aukerman, DreamMaker Bath & Kitchen of Northeast Suburban Chicagoland; Ray Billock, Perfect Promotions; Jim Starwalt, Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate; and Christian Wallis, Advocate Condell Medical Center, who replaces Chris Vicik. Ex Officio Directors: Keith Sanders, CDW; Don Peterson, Village of Green Oaks; Rich Moras, Village of Libertyville; John Lobaito, Village of Mundelein; and Mark Fleischhauer, Village of Vernon Hills, who replaces Joe Carey.

Board Chair Lavris said, "The diverse experience, guidance and dedication of our board will enhance the Chamber and local business community."

Board members are elected annually by the GLMV membership and comprise the most influential local business and civic leaders. They will be sworn in at the January Board Meeting and introduced at the upcoming GLMV Membership & Recognition Gala "Denim & Diamonds", January 25, 2019 at American Hotel Register. All members are encouraged to attend the Gala.

The GLMV Chamber is the most active local business advocacy organization, with 200+ programs, including Membership Gala, Block Party Family Expo and Taste, Golf Outing, holiday events, WOW! Women' Network Group, MOB Men of Business Network Groups, C4S Network Group, marketing/promotional opportunities, website, legislative events, leadership and volunteer opportunities, educational opportunities, roundtable discussions, mixers, grand opening/ribbon cuttings, member events, hot deals, news, and others.
