Illinois Little League cancels state tournaments

On Saturday May 16, the Illinois State Little League District Administrators Association held a membership meeting to discuss the state of Little League in Illinois for the 2020 season. After a long discussion the District Administrators unanimously voted to cancel all Baseball & Softball State Tournaments for the 2020 season. A second vote was unanimous to suspend the state tournament rotation for 2020 and just continue with those hosts in 2021.

This decision only cancels any statewide Little League tournaments for the 2020 season. The administrators felt the logistics of organizing a statewide tournament, while following new health protocols, would be a very tough challenge at this time. Many leagues across Illinois are still planning on having a regular season in which districts may elect to still host district tournaments.
