Border Terrier Club of America to hold 2019 National Specialty in St. Charles

The Border Terrier Club of America will hold its 60th national specialty from June 10-14 at Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles.

A national specialty is the Super Bowl of any dog breed and showcases the varied qualities and talents of the breed. The public is cordially invited to attend.

The border terrier, with its characteristic "otter head," is a small, rough-coated dog weighing under 20 pounds.

The smallest of the long legged terriers, it originated on the border of England and Scotland and was invaluable as a fox and vermin hunter.

The Border Terrier Club of America, www.btcoa.org, is dedicated to the preservation of this breed and hosts the specialty annually.

Over 250 border terriers and their owners are expected to participate in a wide variety of activities.

Agility will be held on Monday, June 10, at Agility at the Farm, 8N861 Burlington Road in Campton Hills. Judging begins at 8 a.m. and spectators are welcome.

In addition on Monday, Laura Yurchak, CPDT-KA, CNWI, will present two Nosework Seminars at Pheasant Run Resort from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Some auditing spots, $15, are still available. Sign up atbtcanational.wixsite.com/2019btcaspecialty/seminars
