Rush Hospital's chief operating officer appointed to Inroads national board of directors

ST. LOUIS, MO, May 21, 2019 - INROADS, Inc. recently announced the appointment of Cynthia Barginere - Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Rush University Hospital - to the INROADS National Board of Directors. A national nonprofit, INROADS is dedicated to developing and placing talented, underserved youth in various business and industry opportunities, and preparing them for corporate and community leadership. This board position will allow INROADS to leverage Barginere's acute strategic planning abilities to advance a new generation of diverse leaders.

For nearly 50 years, INROADS has helped businesses across the U.S. receive access to diverse talent by placing students from underrepresented communities in internships at top companies and businesses. Barginere's practices to provide opportunity to students for mentoring and recruitment in the workplace completely align with INROADS' mission and goals.

These students are talented and capable, and an open door is all they need to grow, rise and flourish in their careers and in life," Barginere said.

Barginere has had an incredible career in the medical field. She currently serves as Senior VP and COO for Rush Hospital, serving as an active member of the leadership team. She is responsible for all operational aspects of the hospital including management of the profit and loss statement for the hospital's business; the development of high quality, cost effective and integrated clinical programs; and managing a highly reliable organization that ensures safe efficient services are delivered to meet the needs of our patients, physicians and staff. Her other responsibilities include assuring collaborative strategic partnerships with the academic, medical practice and corporate programs in Rush University Medical Center in ways that demonstrate support for the corporation's mission and vision.

In her previous role, she was VP of Clinical Nursing/Chief Nursing Officer/Associate Dean Nursing Practice at Rush University Medical Center. She has held various positions as vice president, associate executive director, professor, manager, etc. at hospitals and organizations including Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, AL; the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, AL; South Natick in Massachusetts among others.

In addition, Barginere holds varying positions as a board member for such organizations as the Institute for Innovation Founding Executive Council, the March of Dimes Board of Directors Chicago Market, the Chicago Network and the Economic Club of Chicago. She has been honored with several awards, with her most recent honors at the Chicago United Business Leaders of Color and the Ida V. Moffett Courage to Care Award.

Barginere has a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Samford University, a Master's of Science in Nursing Administration and a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama.

She will serve on INROADS' National Board of Directors for a three-year board term, working with the board member team to advance the organization's mission to support and develop talented, diverse youth across the nation.
