Suburban churches join in 'Explore God' series in January

Join the conversation this January as you "Explore God" at churches of all denominations, all around the Chicago suburbs. In partnership with over 1,000 other churches around the Chicago area, the seven-week sermon series begins Jan. 12-13.

"Explore God" is more than a sermons series. It is also an invitation to our friends and neighbors to ask questions, to join a conversation, and to grow in your understanding of God.

The questions include:

• Jan. 12-13: "Does Life Have a Purpose?"

• Jan. 19-20: "Is There at God? How Can I Know?"

• Jan. 26-27: "Why Does God Allow Pain and Suffering?"

• Feb. 2-3: "Is Christianity Too Narrow?"

• Feb. 9-10: "Is Jesus Really God?"

• Feb. 16-17: "Is the Bible Reliable?"

• Feb. 22-23: "Can I Know God, Personally?"

Explore God Chicago 2019 is a community outreach initiative led by a committee of local pastors and business and ministry leaders. They will explore questions about God, faith, and purpose. It is an effort to come together to look at these questions in an open, authentic way. Join them as they explore "The 7 Big Questions."

Starting in January 2019, ministries across denominational lines in the greater Chicago area will explore these big questions together through discussion groups and sermon series.

Billboards, radio and television spots, and yard signs will blanket the greater Chicago, inviting people to explore God

More than a thousand churches will rally together to reach communities with the gospel, and thousands of people from different backgrounds will meet to discuss life, God, and the Bible.

According to the Explore God website, the average church attendance surged by 10 percent for seven weeks. Congregations focused on inviting friends, coworkers, and family members to explore life's big questions. The community knew the church was a safe place to bring their questions and churches united across denominational lines to reach out to their communities.

The discussion groups will be filled with spiritual seekers met all around the community to explore life's big questions together. Participants are equipped and empowered to have healthy spiritual conversations and share their faith with others.
