West Chicago to be Featured on ABC-TV's 190 North
West Chicago, Illinois: October 11, 2011 – For the second time this year, West Chicago, Illinois has been chosen as a destination by the entertainment industry. Earlier in the summer, the City worked with a major motion picture studio to facilitate the filming of a scene for an upcoming comic book hero action film at the DuPage Business Center; and most recently, was chosen for a feature on ABC-TV's popular show 190 North which will air on Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 10:35 p.m. following local news.
The Chicago-based lifestyle program named after the television station's studio address at 190 N. State Street in the Loop is hosted by Janet Davies, who is joined by other on-air personalities in their quest to discover the best of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. The magazine-style format is perfect for people who like to discover the latest and greatest destinations for their future exploration.
Eva Saha and her production crew chose an especially spectacular autumn day last week to tour the family-friendly western suburb of West Chicago, and will highlight some of the community's natural treasures, innovative businesses, restaurant and recreational destinations and cultural outlets.
Among the places visited were the new memorial garden at Reed-Keppler Park and a scenic slice of West Chicago Prairie. A peek downtown captured Gallery 200, an artist co-op and creative oasis that hosts featured artist exhibits, classes, art clubs and Local Music Night. Additional stops were made at Augustino's Rock and Roll Deli, Natural Healing Whole Dog Wellness, a dog boutique that also offers therapeutic swim classes for their canine clients, and a landmark Tastee Freez. The visit ended back on Main Street with a steamy platter of the traditional dish known as parrillada, a Mexican specialty of popular restaurant El Coco Loco.
Mayor Mike Kwasman, who was interviewed by Ms. Saha, has often expressed his affinity for his hometown as being “the best kept secret in DuPage County”. Between having landed on the radar of a Hollywood studio and the opportunity to showcase West Chicago in the 190 North segment, it's clear the secret is out. “This has been a great year for West Chicago, and we know it's only going to get better," he said.
