College of DuPage Women's Basketball Opens Season with a Win
The College of DuPage women's basketball team is ready for action after kicking off their 2016-2017 season Nov. 3 with a win against Oakton Community College.
The 11-member team led by Head Coach Ryan Connell bested Oakton 58-39. The Chaparrals next host Olive Harvey at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, in the COD PE Arena on the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.
Comprised primarily of new players, Connell said the team has performed well at practices, showing solid skills they'll need this season.
"I think we'll surprise some people," he said. "We've got some outside shooting that's looking pretty strong."
For now, Connell wants to establish the team's rhythm. As the season progresses, the Lady Chaparrals will face some formidable opponents.
"Rock Valley is always solid and Madison and Milwaukee are all really good," he said. "We'll see how the team performs early on and make adjustments as we go, but I think we'll have a pretty good season overall."
