Commemorating the 51st Anniversary of the death of Dr Martin Luther King Jr.
On April 4, 1968, the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., was killed while standing on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. For the 51st consecutive year, The Illinois Commission on Diversity & Human Relations, based in Arlington Heights, will host its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Remembrance & Commemoration Dinner in honor of the slain civil rights leader.
The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Renaissance Hotel, 1551 N. Thoreau Drive in Schaumburg, Illinois.
Keynote speaker will be Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul.
Former Chicago Bulls and NBA star Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, will be the 2019 Illinois Commission on Diversity & Human Relations Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Drum Major Guest Honoree.
Six-time National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Midwest Chapter Emmy winner, Robin Robinson will serve as Emcee.
The musical group "Walt Whitman and the Soul Children of Chicago" is scheduled to perform at the dinner.
