Scramble outing to benefit for Midwest Amputee Golf Association

The Midwest Amputee Golf Association will hold its 17th annual regional golf tournament and scramble on Friday to Sunday, Sept. 8-10, at St. Andrews Golf and Country Club, 3N441 Route 59 in West Chicago.

This year's regional tournament will be Saturday and Sunday, with the optional scramble fundraiser on Friday.

You do not need to be a good golfer to participate. They have competition at any level you desire.

The Friday fundraising scramble features teams of four non-amputees and one amputee golfer. Bring your own group and the association will assign an amputee to your team.

The check-in will begin at 11 a.m. with the shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.

Cost is $135 for non-amputee golfer or $90 for amputee golfer.

It includes 18 holes of golf/shared cart, lunch voucher, post-scramble buffet and prizes.

Even if you are not a golfer, come out and observe the tournament, you will be inspired! If you would like to help out, they welcome volunteers.

The amputee tournament begins Saturday with check-in at 11 a.m., and tee times starting at noon. The banquet will begin at 6:30 p.m.

On Sunday, check-in will be at 7 a.m. with the shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. The buffet and awards will immediately follow the round.

Cost is $100. It includes: Saturday and Sunday greens fees/shared cart, Saturday banquet, Sunday buffet and awards lunch.

Established in 2001, the Midwestern Amputee Golf Association is a volunteer group of individuals who have experienced and overcome the loss of a limb or limbs and utilize the game of golf to promote friendship, fitness, fun and rehabilitation through active participation in golf for amputees of all ages. They believe the local annual amputee golf event helps amputee golfers achieve some of these objectives. They use money raised from the scramble for the scholarship program to support amputees and family members of amputees with financial aid while going to college.
