Grand Opening of West Chicago's New Entertainment Venue

The Shell

Reed-Keppler Park

201 W. National Street

A vision to foster the arts gives way to West Chicago's newest entertainment venue, "The Shell", nestled in Reed-Keppler Park. "The Shell" combines the aspect of a band shell while recognizing its close neighbor Turtle Splash Water Park. Several years ago, there was a concerted effort by former Mayor Michael Kwasman and community members to expand art opportunities in town. The City of West Chicago and the West Chicago Park District resurrected the idea of a performance venue and created a partnership to accomplish the project.

The grand opening of "The Shell" will take place on Saturday, June 10 at 1:00pm. The event will feature special performances by Chicago Cubs National Anthem singer and powerhouse big band "Wayne Messmer and the Chicago Skyliner", "Girl & The Gang" and a special presentation by the Leman Middle School Mariachi band. The vision to celebrate music, drama, family and the arts will continue throughout the summer with a myriad of free activities such as a summer concert series, movies in the park, kid's entertainment, outdoor fitness classes, local talent performances and more.
