Deanne Mazzochi Named College of DuPage Board Chairman for Second Consecutive Year

College of DuPage Board Chairman Deanne Mazzochi (center) was elected for the second consecutive year to serve as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the annual Board of Trustees Organizational Meeting held April 27, 2017.

"I am thankful to my fellow Board members for their continued support. We implemented an ambitious list of reforms over the past two years, and it is gratifying to see the impact we have had on the College," she said. "Our work is far from done, however, and we look forward to continuing to find ways to provide excellent service to our students, faculty, staff and community members."

Chairman Mazzochi was elected to the Board for a six-year term in April 2015 and served as Acting Chairman when former Trustee Kathy Hamilton resigned from her post in December 2015. On April 21, 2016, Mazzochi was elected for her first full-year term as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Prior to her service as Acting Chairman, she served as Vice Chairman of the Board. An Elmhurst resident, Mazzochi is an attorney and founding member of Rakoczy, Molino, Mazzochi, Siwik L.L.P., a full-service litigation and intellectual property firm in Chicago. Chairman Mazzochi grew up in Villa Park and graduated from Willowbrook High School. A former College of DuPage student, Chairman Mazzochi holds bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and Political Science from Boston University and a J.D. from George Washington University Law School.

In addition, Trustee Frank Napolitano (right) was appointed to serve a one-year term as Board Vice Chairman and Trustee Christine Fenne (left) was elected to serve as Board Secretary.

Trustee Fenne, of Wheaton, was one of three new Trustees formally sworn in at the April 27 Organizational Board of Trustees Meeting. She, along with Trustee Daniel Markwell of Lombard, will serve six-year terms, and Alan Bennett, also from Lombard, will serve a two-year term.

Trustee Fenne is a Sales Account Executive who served as President of the Wheaton Library Board from 2015-2017 and had been a member of the Library Board since 2012. She has been a member of the Wheaton and Glen Ellyn chambers.

Trustee Markwell is currently a student at College of DuPage who is pursuing an associate degree in Computer Science. He has served as a volunteer for PADS and Habitat for Humanity.

Trustee Alan Bennett is a retired State of Illinois employee who has been a member of the Mazzini-Verde Italian-American Social Athletic Organization, was a former coach for girls' softball in the Elmwood Park Youth Commission summer program and was a former Merit Badge Counselor for Boy Scout Troop No. 689 in Elmwood Park.

The next regular Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 18, in the Student Services Center (SSC), Room 2200, at 7 p.m. To view a video from the April 27 Organizational Board Meeting, please click here.
