TMA hosts RE-Shoring Initiative founder Harry Moser
Technology & Manufacturing Association's Young Leaders Group recently hosted Re-Shoring Initiative founder Harry Moser at their quarterly luncheon held at Stonegate Conference Center in Hoffman Estates.
Moser, who recently helped a local contract manufacturer save business and jobs by quantifying the hidden costs of outsourcing in China, founded the Initiative after holding leadership positions at GF Machining Solutions where he began as president in 1985 and retired as chairman emeritus in 2010.
"My goal is to help companies do what Morey Corporation did by using our Total Cost of Ownership Estimatorâ„¢ to save a $60 million order against China, and to assist all TMA members in making sound judgments when it comes to reshoring," Moser stated. "As I have been saying lately, it's better to do the math now than get a tweet from Donald (Trump) tomorrow."
According to the Reshoring Initiative, many U.S. manufacturers are re-evaluating their operations and taking a closer look at the benefits of reshoring, which include; higher product quality and consistency, fewer supply chain disruptions, shorter delivery times and reduced freight costs, lower inventory levels and less shelf time, better responsiveness to changing customer demands, minimal intellectual property and regulatory compliance risks, improved innovation and product differentiation, easier communication with fewer language and time zone variations, and local tax incentives.
"It was great to have someone with Harry's expertise in the burgeoning reshoring movement speak to TMA members, "said TMA Young Leaders Chairman Michael Magliano. "It really all comes down to bringing work back home-bringing jobs back home. It's an important message that I know our members will take to heart," he added.
