Marion Jones Townhomes Relocation Starts June 2, 2014

On June 2, 2014 Marion Jones Townhome Community located in North Chicago, IL starts a relocation process. The first ten families are going to receive Tenant Based Protection Vouchers. All families are given time to locate a rental unit of their choice. Some families have already expressed interest in transferring their vouchers to other parts of Illinois as well as to other states. The process should be completed within 90 days.

LCHA will provide relocation and financial assistance to all eligible residents in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. No eligible resident will be required to move from any dwelling in a project until such person has been offered a reasonable choice of decent, safe, and sanitary comparable housing and has been allowed sufficient time and provided the assistance necessary to complete a move to a replacement dwelling. Relocation assistance provided by LCHA includes different types of services. Types of assistance includes advisory services that incorporates an initial assessment of each resident to identify their preference and any special needs that will be impacted by the relocation; housing search assistance that will provide residents with alternative comparable housing options and other services to assist in selection of replacement housing. LCHA will be covering actual reasonable moving expenses - residents will receive payment for all reasonable moving expenses including transportation of personal property within a 50 mile radius. The costs of packing, crating, unpacking and uncrating of personal property will be paid under moving expenses. Residents will also be offered storage of personal property for a period not to exceed twelve months in case they choose to not move all personal property to the replacement dwelling unit. Utility reconnections fees will be paid as applicable. In addition, The Authority will negotiate security deposit.
