Historical Museum Hosts Open House for New Doll Exhibit
The Martha Mills collection of dolls eagerly awaits the pleasure of your company at the Arlington Heights Historical Museum's Banta House. View the new exhibit, Reflections on Fashion, at a free open house on Saturday, October 19, 1:00-3:30 p.m. You are invited to come and reflect on fashions from the 1860's through the present times. Many antique dolls are dressed up in their finery! Dolls have been staged to showcase the Speakeasy 20's, the Sober 30's, the Patriotic 40's, the Optimistic 50's, the Mod 60's, the Hustle 70's and the Glamorous 80's. Take a look also at the homemade fashions that were sewn with love by our mothers and grandmothers from patterns. Remember those knitted and crocheted doll dresses from the 50's to the 60's? Over 125 dolls are on display, dressed in period and unique fashions.
The Banta House is located at the corner of Euclid and Vail Streets. If you are not able to attend the open house, the doll exhibit is part of the weekend tours of the museum complex, Saturdays and Sundays, at 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. Tour fees are $4 for adults and $2 for children.
