Licha DeLaPeña finds inspiration for her paintings in day to day living in the city's Logan Square neighborhood in the St. George Artist Court, a block of private artist studios, where she currently resides. Born in October 1972, growing up in Dolton, IL, she began painting in her graduation year from Columbia College Chicago in 1996.

The initial years of DeLaPeña's career were spent at Gallery 1633 in Chicago, where she had the opportunity to interact with many local artists, especially artist and gallery owner, Montana Morrison who encouraged the young artist. Local photographer, Dan Zamudio and his wife, fine arts painter Julie Sulzen have also acted as mentors to DeLaPeña.

In 2006, on a trip to Prague, DeLaPeña discovered local artist, Gor Avetisyan at Inter Art Gallery, whose explorations of abstract form had a profound effect on her work, on top of earlier her influencers like Klimt and Picasso, all of whom guided her to find her unique style of expression.

Mostly showing work on the west side of Chicago, her work has been showcased in venues such as Gallery Cabaret, Gallery 1633, Simons, 20/30 Club Charity Events, TOP Charity Events, KDT Designs Inc, Green Eye Lounge, The Charleston, Filter, Advance Spine & Sports Care, and No Friction Cafe, among others.

Paintings are available for purchase and commission at the artist's private space, Oktober Studio in Logan Square.
