Fox Valley Rep to join the fight against hunger, partnering with Northern Illinois Food Bank's HUNGER ACTION MONTH during fall comedy, SIRENS

In honor of Hunger Action Month (September), Fox Valley Repertory's “FVR Give$ Back” program has partnered with the Northern Illinois Food Bank to take action and fight hunger in the Fox Valley community during their production of the midlife comedy, SIRENS. Patrons will have the opportunity to contribute to the cause after each performance at the Pheasant Run Resort Mainstage now through October 7, 2012 (4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL; box office 630-584-6342).

Northern Illinois Food Bank provides food to more than 60,000 hungry neighbors each week in 13 counties through a network of 600 partner food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, and youth and senior centers. Northern Illinois Food Bank also collects food donations from manufacturers and retailers, and through public food drives. They rely on funding from individuals, corporations and foundations to help purchase, sort, repack and distribute more than 40 million pounds of food annually. That's the equivalent of more than 33.3 million meals!

“September is Hunger Action Month – an entire month dedicated to helping spread hunger awareness and raise funds to help our hungry neighbors,” says Shannon Thompson of Northern Illinois Food Bank. “Currently, 1 in 8 people face hunger in northern Illinois. We are grateful to Fox Valley Repertory and its patrons for their support in feeding our hungry neighbors. Northern Illinois Food Bank turns every dollar donated into six meals for a neighbor in need.”

Also, a portion of the proceeds will support Fox Valley Repertory's very own Performing Arts Academy, which serves local students year round through programs that encourage students to explore their own lives through the performing arts. The “FVR Give$ Back” program has raised over $15,000 for local charities such as the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

Patrons will have the opportunity to contribute to the cause after each performance of SIRENS – a funny, modern comedy about the joys of midlife, the stormy seas of marriage, the lures of Facebook and the dangers of a breathtaking song.

SIRENS runs through Sunday, October 7, 2012. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; Sundays at 2 p.m. Thursday performances are August 16 & 23 at 8pm, and August 30 and September 13 at 2pm. The show is rated PG13.

Directed by John Gawlik, the cast of SIRENS features (in alphabetical order): Bill Bannon, Angela Sprinkle, Samuel Taylor, and Liz Zweifer.
