Waddell & Reed's WWI traveling exhibit rolls into Navy Pier Aug. 11

Waddell & Reed's “Honoring Our History” Traveling World War I Exhibition will roll into Chicago for its 61st stop on a national 75-city tour.

The exhibit will be located at the east end of Navy Pier on Saturday, August 11, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The WWI Exhibit will be open FREE to the public – and is designed to honor veterans, as well as raise awareness and funds for cultural institutions as it travels to 75 cities across the country.

On August 11, visitors can experience the sites and sounds of World War I – and honor World War I veterans and all veterans since. Visitors will experience the tight conditions of trench warfare, see the relatively primitive tools, weapons, equipment and uniforms of a war from 100 years ago.

Admission is free to the WWI exhibit on August 11; however, donations are appreciated and will benefit the First Division Museum at Cantigny Park in Wheaton, as well as the National World War I Museum in Kansas City, Mo.

The event at Navy Pier is being coordinated by Waddell & Reed offices in Schaumberg, Naperville, Oak Brook and Orland Park. Waddell & Reed is one of the country's oldest mutual fund companies. The two founders of Waddell & Reed, Chauncey Waddell and Cameron Reed, were WWI veterans.
