Wauconda Wins 'Best City or Town to Live'

The Daily Herald recently completed their annual "Readers' Choice" campaign for 2012. During the promotion, thousands of Daily Herald readers voted to identify their 'favorites' in a wide range of categories within the Chicagoland area. The top vote-getters in each category were named 'the best' - and the Village of Wauconda was among them, being selected as a 'Best City or Town to Live'.

Mayor Mark Knigge said, "The Village is honored to be chosen for this award by readers of the third largest daily newspaper in Illinois. This just reiterates what I know about Wauconda, this is a fantastic, vibrant, and thriving community with a great level of volunteerism, and highly engaged elected and volunteer community leaders. This award belongs to the entire community - it's about saying 'we live somewhere special and we want to let everyone know how fortunate we are'."

The Mayor continued, "The Village joins three other progressive communities in northern Illinois in earning this award, St. Charles, Elk Grove Village, and Arlington Heights. We are currently engaged in planning for Wauconda's future and intend to ensure that it remains one of the area's most popular communities."
