Pro-life conference, SpeakOut Illinois, on Saturday, Jan. 28
CHICAGO -- A coalition of pro-life organizations will host its annual SpeakOut Illinois conference this Saturday, Jan. 28 in Oak Brook.
The conference is in its 21st year, and welcomes Abby Johnson as its keynote speaker. Abby, a former Planned Parenthood Employee of the Month, is now a senior policy advisor with Americans United for Life.
SpeakOut Illinois brings together more than 35 pro-life organizations from across the state, including the Pro-Life Action League, crisis pregnancy centers, the pro-life law firm Thomas More Society, politically active pro-life groups, and religiously affiliated organizations. Illinois is the only state to have such a broad pro-life coalition.
“In the face of attacks on the sanctity of life, it is important to gather so that we can continue to defend life vigorously and effectively,” said Ann Scheidler, vice president of the Pro-Life Action League and co-chair of the SpeakOut Illinois committee.
Concurrent with SpeakOut Illinois is TeenSpeak, a conference that helps teens put their pro-life convictions into action. This year's theme is “A New Generation for Life” and will feature Josh Brahm, host of the popular “Life Report” podcast, who is also one of the few speakers who has publicly debated leaders from Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Rights Action League.
This year's breakout session topics include:
• Children Are a Treasure
• Engaging College Students in the Fight for Life
• Communicating Your Message Effectively
The Henry Hyde Life Leadership Award will be presented to Francis Cardinal George, Archbishop of Chicago

About the Pro-Life Action League
The Pro-Life Action League was founded by Joseph M. Scheidler in 1980 with the aim of saving unborn children through non-violent direct action. Through prayer vigils outside abortion facilities and sidewalk counseling, the League reaches out to abortion-bound women and couples with abortion alternatives, confidential counseling, and access to pregnancy resources. The League has closed eight abortion clinics in Chicago alone and nearly 100 across the country. The Pro-Life Action League is a nonprofit organization, supported solely by private donations.
