Judson University Theater to Present Children of Eden Musical
(Elgin, IL – September 26, 2011) In the beginning… was theater? Come to Judson's Garden of Eden (also known as the Marjorie Thulin Performance Hall in the school's Alice and Edward Thompson Center) to watch The Book of Genesis come to life with their upcoming musical Children of Eden. Director David Hunter has been buzzing with excitement about this show since last spring.
Performances will be at 7 p.m. Oct 27-30. and at 3 p.m. October 29-30. Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for students, $8 for seniors and groups of 15 or more, and can be ordered by calling 847-628-2625.
Children of Eden opens with the creation story, and moves through the story of Adam and Eve to the story of their children, Cain and Abel. Unexpected twists in this familiar story are sure to spark conversation and ignite new insight about the story. The second act is all about Noah and his family, and is double-cast with the same actors who play the lead roles in the first act. The journey of life takes them on an evolution of many generations.
Children of Eden was based on The Book of Genesis and a novel by John Caird written in 1986. The music and lyrics were composed by Stephen Schwartz, who is known for composing Broadway smash hits like Godspell and Wicked. Stephen Schwartz is also recognized for the Academy Award-winning songs he wrote for the Disney movies Pocahontas, The Prince of Egypt, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
