Film festival begins with free concert by local musician

CNGM Pictures is proud to return this July with their second annual Blue Whiskey Independent Film Festival (BWiFF.) The festival kicks off on Tuesday, July 19 at the Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood Street, Palatine, with a free concert featuring acclaimed and local musician Dennis Florine, resident of Palatine.

It will be proceeded by the festival's selected music videos. Film screenings begin on Wednesday, July 20 and continue through Saturday, July 23.

The festival wraps up on Sunday morning with an awards buffet brunch at the Hotel Bollero (formerly Hotel Indigo – 920 E. Northwest Highway, Palatine.

Born and raised in Palatine, Dennis Florine has been touring the world for the past six years. In addition to performing at music venues and universities across the nation, Dennis has also toured eight European countries. This year, he returns to France to perform in the sister city of Palatine at the 2011 Fontenay-le-Comte International Music Festival, upon the request of the Mayor

of Palatine.

Dennis has created a unique, hybrid genre of pop by splicing spoken word into his songs, lacing poetry into his already catchy melodies. As he stomps his foot, and pumps passion into every strum, the audience comes alive with his contagious energy.

On Tuesday, July 19, Dennis will be performing with a full band on an elaborate set designed by J. Spencer Greene, the artistic director of a Cutting Hall resident theater company, Theatre Nebula.

This free live concert featuring the latest music from his new full-length album, “O' World, What a Beautiful Tragedy,” is sure to leave the audience wanting more. Opening for Dennis Florine will be Mount Prospect native, Chris Petlak.

This is just the first night of the 2011 Blue Whiskey Independent Film Festival, running July 19-24 .
