Trinity AME Church to host Emanuel 9 Service of Remembrance June 9, 2019 at 4:00 pm
On Sunday, June 9 at 4:00 p.m. Trinity AME Church will host the 4th Annual Emanuel 9 Service of Remembrance, at 210 South Avenue in Waukegan, IL. The service will honor the nine members of Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, including the pastor, who were murdered while participating in a Church prayer service on June 17, 2015.
This mass shooting at Emanuel AME Church was committed by a 21-year old white supremacist. Mass murders and other acts of violence are all too commonplace today in Churches, and other places where people of faith gather in the community. Acts of racial violence will never shut our Church doors. The service will honor those murdered, and will celebrate life and the right to worship without fear of racial violence.
The speaker for the service is Rt. Rev. John F. White, the presiding bishop of AME Churches in the Midwest, Canada and India. The service includes singing and dancing followed by a fellowship reception.
Trinity AME Church is one of the oldest African American Churches in Lake County. On September 8, 2019, we will celebrate our 115th year of serving the community. Our pastor is Rev. Janice Brazil Cummings who serves as the first female pastor in the history of our Church.
You are invited to attend. For more information call the Church office at (847) 623-8529.
