Come out and sing with the Festival Chorus

The Festival Chorus, a nonprofit community chorus, is currently seeking adult vocalists who enjoy the challenge of performing fine music.

Entry auditions are solely for the purpose of vocal section placement. There is a registration fee, a charge for music and a need to purchase concert clothing. The chorus is under the direction of Greg Tipps.

Regular rehearsals are from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Mondays in Building P, Room P202, of the Music Instruction Center at Harper College, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine.

From mid-August through early December, the chorus will prepare for the Christmas concert. A professional orchestra will accompany the chorus Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Harper College Performing Arts Center. The chorus will also perform for residents at The Lutheran Home Dec. 3, and on Sunday, Dec. 9, at Southminster Presbyterian Church. Pianist Beverly Tipps will accompany the chorus for the latter two performances.

The first rehearsal for the new season on Monday, Aug. 20, will begin one-half hour early, at 7 p.m. Come join the group for a rough read through of the planned program.

This will include Joel Raney's "Celebrate the Season," Randol Alan Bass's "A Feast of Carols" and a variety of other seasonal songs.
