Youth artists invited to compete in Pets-a-Palooza art show

Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin is offering "Listen to Your Art," its first youth art show, at this year's Pets-a-Palooza on Sunday, Sept. 17.

They are asking for kids and teens to use their artistic abilities to spread the message of compassion and kindness toward animals.

All "Listen to Your Art" participants who attend Pets-a-Palooza will receive a special ribbon.

Submissions should be dropped off at any of the three shelter locations no later than Friday, Aug. 25, in order to be displayed at the show. All artwork submitted must not be larger than 11 by 8.5 inches and must be on paper, unframed and unmounted.

Drawings, paintings, sketches, and poetry are all acceptable.

Artwork should in some way depict kindness or compassion toward animals or other people.

Artwork will not be returned, so they suggest submitting a copy; however original work is also welcomed.

On the back of the submission, include child's first and last name, age, city, parent's name, email, address and phone number. The only information viewable to the public will be the child's first name, age and city.

Children of any age up to 18 may submit artwork. One submission per child, please.

The main shelter is at 1000 S. La Fox St. in South Elgin, (847) 697-2880; North Aurora Adoption Center, 180 N. Randall Road, (847) 697-2880, ext. 80; or Bloomingdale Adoption Center, 412 W. Army Trail Road, (847) 697-2880, ext. 90.
