Judson U.'s Founders' Day celebration Oct. 28

(Elgin, IL - October 17, 2011) Judson University invites the community to attend its annual Founders' Day celebration on Friday, October 28 at the Elgin campus (1151 N. State St.) The university, established in 1963, is celebrating 48 years in Elgin. This year's Founders' Day is aptly themed “Honoring the Past and Setting the Course for the Future.”

The day's events will begin at 9 a.m. with a rededication of the Marjorie Thulin Performance Hall (MTPH) in the Alice and Edward Thompson Center. The performance hall recently underwent renovations, including new seating, new carpeting, and a new curtain.

A chapel service with speaker Rev. George Tooze will be held at 10 a.m. in Herrick Chapel. Dr. Tooze is a graduate of Gordon College, Gordon Conwell Seminary, and Andover-Newton Theological School, and has served 40 years of pastoral ministry. He has authored The Life and Letters of Emily Chubbuck Judson [Fanny Forester], third wife to Adoniram Judson [the university's namesake], which is to be published in seven volumes by the Mercer University Press. Dr. Tooze's chapel message will highlight the history, biography and legacy of Emily Chubbuck Judson.

A luncheon in the dining hall of the Betty Lindner Commons will begin at 11:30 a.m., where members of the administration will present plans for the launch of Judson's Golden Centennial Celebration Kickoff. To reserve your place for Founders' Day, visit www.JudsonU/FoundersDay or call 847-628-1119.

The Judson University Theater Program's Children of Eden performance coincides with the Founders' Day festivities, beginning at 7 p.m. in the newly renovated performance hall. Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for students, $8 for seniors and groups of 15 or more, and can be ordered by calling 847-628-2625.

Located in Elgin, Ill., Judson University offers a Christian, liberal arts education through its four-year Bachelor of Arts degrees for more than 60 other majors/minors, graduate programs, online, certification and accelerated adult degree programs. A Preview Overnight of programs will be held November 10-11 for students interested in learning more about Judson's academic programs.
