"Atomic Life" Gallery Show at Lakeside Legacy Arts Park

Lakeside Legacy Arts Park welcomes the community to the Friday, October 5th First Friday gallery event from 5pm to 8pm featuring Jeff Sevener and his Atomic Life collection of paintings. Equal to Jeff’s love of painting is his love of 20th century American literature. He is a high-school English teacher in Illinois, and believes he has the “privilege of sharing this captivating era of history with young minds through the invaluable medium of literature.” Jeff’s artistic goal for Atomic Life is to capture aspects of modern life with a nod to mid-century America’s transition from stark deprivation to vivid prosperity. “With the juxtaposition of the playful, plastic look of common spray paint against the dramatic sharpness of grayscale, I [Sevener] hope to create an atomic era lens through which I can portray modern life. Atomic Life will be up for viewing until October 26.

In the lobby of the Lakeside Legacy Arts Park, Jeff will be displaying his Crystal Lake - Modernizing History exhibit in an effort to provide a view of the Dole mansion and other familiar Crystal Lake sites through a lens that is both retro and modern. For more information about Jeff Sevener, please visit j7arts.com.

The second and third floors of the Dole Mansion have much to offer as well, exhibiting an installation by Angela Swan. Expand your artistic senses with this incredible installation of unique and eclectic sculpture and composition while exploring and learning about the local history of the Dole.
