Northwest Suburban Music Teachers Win National Award

The Northwest Suburban Music Teachers Association has won MTNA's (Music Teachers National Association) Local Association of the Year Award for 2013.

NWSMTA is an organization of independent music teachers from Chicago's northwest suburbs. The purpose of this association is to further the art of music and music education. Members of NWSMTA have access to programs that support and encourage teaching and provide performance opportunities for students and teachers alike.

The Local Association of the Year Award recognizes the local music teachers' association that makes the most significant contributions to the music teaching profession through participation in MTNA national programs and additional programs established within its state and local area. The president of NWSMTA, Maureen Flood of Barrington, will accept the prize of $1000 on behalf of the group at the MTNA National Conference, which will take place in March at Disneyland, in Anaheim, California.
