Enjoy a 'Russian Spectacular' Nov. 22 with Midwest Philharmonic Orchestra
Join the Midwest Philharmonic Orchestra for a "Russian Spectacular" at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at the Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way in downtown Elgin.
Explore the music of the Russian composers who shaped the history of classical music, such as Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Igor Stravinsky, and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

Online tickets are $18, $10 for students or seniors; or $7 for children, age 7 or younger. Tickets at the door are an additional $3. With a valid student ID, high school students can get a $5 ticket.
The concert program will feature Rimsky-Korsakov's "Capriccio Espagnol," Vasily Kalinnikov's Symphony No. 1, Finale; Stravinsky's "Tango," and Tchaikovsky's "Andante Cantabile" and Symphony No. 5.
All seats will be reserved for the 2021-22 season to keep social distancing between groups. Face masks will be required for everyone entering the concert venue.
The season began Oct. 31 with a "Pops Concert on Halloween" with music from John Williams' "Star Wars Suite" and the theme from "E.T."
In early 2022, the orchestra will perform as part of the All-State Illinois Music Education Conference at 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 Friday, Jan. 28, at the Peoria Civic Center.
In the spring, the orchestra will perform at the annual Midwest Concerto Competition Winners' Concert at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 13, in Elmhurst University's Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel.
The final concert of the season will be an "American Road Trip" at 7 p.m. Friday, May 20, at the Hemmens. It will feature Aaron Copland's "Appalachian Spring," Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue," and more.
