W. Chicago homebuyer fair set for Feb. 26

The city of West Chicago, in partnership with DuPage Homeownership Center and Illinois Housing Development Authority, will be offering a community- based Free Homebuyer Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at Community High School, 326 Joliet St.

Focusing on the benefits of living in West Chicago, the fair is free to anyone looking to buy a home in today's market where a combination of record low interest rates and a substantial number of available homes make this the perfect time to be a home buyer.

"I think the Homebuyer Fair is a great way to educate people about the responsibilities and rewards of buying a home. I also think this is a tremendous way to showcase all that West Chicago has to offer to those considering investment in a quality community," commented Mayor Mike Kwasman.

The fair will offer workshops on topics such as current homebuyer programs available (FHA 203k, IHDA's down payment assistance programs, etc.); the importance of credit in obtaining a mortgage; and how to become a successful homeowner in today's market.

The city of West Chicago will also offer information highlighting the city and the benefits of living within the West Chicago community.

Realtors, lenders, builders, home repair services, along with community resources such as schools, park district, library, employers, and county resources, will also be welcomed to participate in this program and may contact Kathe Doremus at kmdoremus@gmail.com or (630) 212-7128 for more details.
