Art for a Cause inspires Elgin Academy students

Art for a Cause, a club that encourages interested Upper School students at Elgin Academy to use their artistic talents to benefit others, has successfully completed two projects. Members are Maham Abassi, Claire Fluegel, Hannah Gallee, Miranda Green, Ellie Johnson, Jordan Kaufman, Kim Krawzak, Anna Lowell, Siyona Ravi, and Mary Elizabeth Snell.

Over the summer, the students participated in “Leaping for Life,” a public art project and educational campaign jointly sponsored by Delnor Hospital and National Bank and Trust. The students, along with other area artists and interested organizations, painted fiberglass frogs to promote children's wellness. The frogs measured 17 inches and weighed approximately 12 pounds. In keeping with the project's theme, the students used the slogan “Leap for the Stars” and created an “astronaut” frog. Their frog was displayed in the lobby at Delnor Hospital in Geneva.

For their second project, the students painted a portable book cart and donated it to Delnor Hospital to be used in the children's wing. The artists used bright colors for a casual, whimsical look to inspire cheer.
