March 25: Taikoza group features traditional Japanese music at the James Lumber Center

Thunderous rhythms of ancestral Japanese taiko drums, along with bamboo flutes and a 13-string instrument are part of a highly visual, energetic performance of "Taikoza," at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 25 at the College of Lake County's James Lumber Center of the Performing Arts in Grayslake.

Drawing from Japan's rich tradition of music and performance, Taikoza has created a new sound using a variety of traditional instruments. Roughly translated, taiko means "big drums," and that is exactly what the group brings to the stage. The only U.S. professional group that blends these instruments and Japanese traditional dances into its performance, Taikoza features colorful costumes and dynamic motions to create a show popular for all ages.

Founded in New York City, the group has performed in Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall and international venues in addition to appearing on ESPN, NBC and the History Channel. For more information on Taikoza, visit http://taikoza.com/.

Tickets: $32 for adults, $31 for seniors/CLC staff and alumni, $15 for teens and $12 for children. Prices do not include a $2 per ticket JLC facility fee and other applicable fees.
