Cubs World Championship Trophy on Display at COD's Food Truck Rally/Sunset 5K Sept. 23

The Chicago Cubs' 2016 World Series Trophy will be on display from 2 to 3:30 p.m. during College of DuPage's annual Food Truck Rally and Sunset 5K presented by DuPage Medical Group on the College's Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Attendees will have the opportunity to take photos with the trophy on a time-permitting and first-come, first-served basis. The first 500 fans will receive a wristband to ensure their ability to see the trophy. Additional fans will be accommodated as time permits. The trophy will be on display in the College's Physical Education Center arena.

Making their first appearance in the World Series since 1945 and ending the longest World Series Championship drought in history, the Cubs defeated the Cleveland Indians in seven games during the 2016 World Series to win their first World Championship since 1908.

Sponsored by DuPage Medical Group, Athletico, Blistex, Eby-Brown, the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District, the McAninch Arts Center, Naperville Park District, the Naperville Running Company, Party People, Skuddlebutts, Sodexo, Speed Pro Imaging and WDCB 90.9 FM, the Food Truck Rally & Sunset 5K features 19 popular Chicago and DuPage mobile eateries from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Patrons interested in only the food trucks do not need to register for the race. In addition, a Kid Zone will host a variety of activities, including games, face painting and Touch-A-Truck, where emergency vehicles, grounds equipment and semi-tractor trailers will be on hand for children to experience up close.

The 100-Yard Youth Dash begins at 4 p.m. on the football stadium track and is for children nine and under, with three divisions - ages 4 to 5, 6 to 7, and 8 to 9. The Sunset 5K will begin at 5 p.m. and features a USATF-certified course.

All proceeds from this event will benefit COD Student Scholarships. Each high school district served by College of DuPage will have a dedicated scholarship for their graduates who attend COD. At the time of 5K or Youth Dash registration, participants can designate the district that will receive the funds.
