Learn about degrees available through University Center of Lake County

The University Center of Lake County will host an open house from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at the University Center's Grayslake facility, 1200 University Center Drive.

In one visit, attendees can learn about more than 100 degree and certificate programs, meet university program representatives, and maybe even win some cash. Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, UC's newest member, will participate in this event for the first time.

The University Center offers programs from 20 Illinois colleges and universities designed to enable adult students to further their education without a lengthy or costly commute. These include bachelor's completion programs, graduate degree programs, and professional development coursework.

Classes meet in the evening and on weekends at University Center facilities in Grayslake and Waukegan, and at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in North Chicago. Other classes meet via online study, eliminating any commute and providing maximum scheduling flexibility.

Representatives from the full range of offerings will attend the Open House to provide information and answer questions.

WXLC will be broadcasting live from the Open House, so some lucky students may win immediate financial aid from the XLC cash machine and get to meet an XLC radio personality.

For more information, call (847) 665-4000 or visit www.ucenter.org to register for the event.
