Lake Forest health care executive joins Advocate Condell Governing Council

Thomas Kapfer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Beaver-Visitec International, Inc., has been appointed to the Governing Council of Advocate Condell Medical Center.

Kapfer joined Beaver-Visitec International at its launch in August of 2010. BVI is a global manufacturer, developer and marketer of ophthalmic and other specialty microsurgical products. Based in Waltham, Mass., BVI has offices in Lake Forest.

Previously, Kapfer served as President of the Medical Products and Services business at Cardinal Health. Kapfer spent more than 24 years in numerous senior management, sales, marketing and operating positions at Cardinal Health and its predecessor companies, Allegiance Healthcare, Baxter International and American Hospital Supply.

"I've devoted my career in healthcare to serving physicians and patients through the development of products and solutions that improve safety and health outcomes. As a member of Advocate Condell's Governing Council, I will be able to continue to make an impact on the health of the community here in Lake County," Kapfer said.

Dominica Tallarico, President of Advocate Condell Medical Center, said Kapfer will bring valuable expertise in healthcare to the Governing Council, which supports hospital leadership in their pursuit of the hospital's goals and, represents the community's interests to the hospital.

Kapfer resides in Libertyville. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Economics from the University of Iowa.
