CLC offers Star Trek Xplore! Camp

Students in grades 7-12 can "boldly go" to explore the world and influence of Star Trek with the expert guidance of College of Lake County sociology professors John and Maria Jose Tenuto.

Their new Xplore! Camp, "Star Trek: Resistance is Futile," is offered July 6-9 by the CLC Center for Personal Enrichment.

John Tenuto received the 2013 Outstanding Full-time Faculty award and has given dozens of public presentations and media interviews on the sociology of the "Star Trek" film and television shows.

"Star Trek: Resistance is Futile" (course CEXP 85) is for students in grades 7-12. In this interactive camp, students will delve into Star Trek's history, characters and innovative view of the future to explore Star Trek's sociological and technological influences.

The camp will be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, July 6-9, at the CLC Grayslake campus, 19351 W. Washington St. The cost is $225.
